Duluth Approves More City Events

The Duluth City Council adopted a list of additional city sponsored and co-sponsored events for the summer and into the fall at its regular meeting June 10.

The new events include a summer and fall Town Market.

Here are the events on the latest adopted list:

• 2nd and last Thursdays & 2nd and last Saturdays from June 29 through the 2nd week of October 2013 - Town Market *Licensed Merchant Zone
• June 13, 2013 - Picnic on the Green *Licensed Merchant Zone
• June 15, 2013 - Yoga on the Green
• June 19, 2013 - Book Character Day on the Green
• July 19 & 20, 2013 - Bubbles on the Green
• Aug. 2, 2013 - Flicks on the Bricks and Back to School Fun
• Aug. 17, 2013 - Zumbathon
• Aug. 24, 2013 - City to City Field Day Competition
• Sept. 20 & 21, 2013 - Great American Backyard Campout

These events are in addition to a partial list adopted by the council in February.

Alcohol will be permitted only for events or portions of events denoted with an Open or Licensed Merchant Zone Event designation. Open Zone will allow alcohol to be purchased from licensed merchants within the downtown area and carried out as well as allow coolers to be brought in. Licensed Merchant Zone only allows alcohol to be purchased from the Downtown Licensed Merchants and carried out into the downtown area.
