Summer is winding down. The air is a little crisper, nights are a little cooler, and we're getting excited about football season. These are all great reasons to spend sometime outside finding new things to do. Here are some great suggestions for this week.
- If you're in the mood to give back this weekend, think about donating blood. Especially if you have type "O", call 1-800-REDCROSS to schedule an appointment for Friday at Glenn C. Jones Middle School in Suwanee.
- Downtown Norcross will be showing the classic movie "The Princess Bride" this Saturday evening. The flick starts around dusk, but the fun begins at 7 p.m. with food, activities for the kids and more.
- Saturday evening, the Silverbacks play host to the NASL leading Carolina Railhawks. With their first season winding down, the Silverbacks have only three home games left. Make sure you get tickets here!
- If you're a fan of UFC/MMA, Wild Bill's in Duluth will be hosting their Wild Bill's Fight Night this Friday with professional, advanced-amateur and amateur bouts. Also, there will be a bikini contest at some point during the night, but nobody will go for that. Right?
- Chateau Elan, will be celebrating harvest season this Sunday with live music, grape-stomping, cooking demonstrations and over 115 wines from around the world. Check out the website for details and to buy tickets.

- This Saturday and Sunday, the Pride of Dixie Antiques Market returns to the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross. Hundreds of booths will show and sell antiques, collectibles, jewelry, furniture and more. $4 admission is good all weekend. For more information call 770-279-9899. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
- The Triple A Gwinnett Braves take on the Norfolk Tides this weekend starting Thursday night. Visit the G-Braves promotions page to see if any extras tickle your fancy. The Duluth High School Marching Wildcats Band will be performing the National Anthem prior to the start of Saturday night's game. This is the band's third appearance at Coolray Field.
