Hands of Christ – A Duluth Cooperative Ministry is hosting a grand opening celebration for its new Thrift Store at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23. Filled with gently used men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, furniture and household items, the Hands of Christ Community Thrift Store occupies the 5,000-square-foot basement of the ministry at 3395 Fox St. in Duluth.

Initial hours for the thrift store will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The ministry operates a community food pantry at the same location off Buford Highway.

Adding the Thrift Store has been a goal the ministry’s Executive Director Mary Roberts has been working toward for several years. Proceeds from the Thrift Store will go toward helping more people in the community, Roberts said.

Door prizes of shopping vouchers will be given away at the grand opening. For a $10 donation, names will be entered in a drawing for a new 32-inch LG flat screen TV.
