Join Telephone Town Hall on Transportation Tonight

Gwinnett Place CID reminding Duluth area residents to provide input on TSPLOST project list.

The Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District (CID) is reminding Duluth area residents to participate in a telephone town hall organized by the Atlanta Regional Commission to gather input on transportation needs Monday (June 20) night.

Gwinnett County has a specific time for residents to call into a special meeting for listening and asking questions. Some residents will be randomly called. Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash and Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson will participate in the call.

The public input will help develop a project list that voters can decide whether to fund through a penny sales tax during the July 2012 transportation referendum.

Local governments, transit agencies and other organizations from the 10-county metro Atlanta region submitted their suggestions for the transportation special purpose local option sales tax or TSPLOST project list earlier this year.

Included on the list is a five-phase light rail system from the Doraville MARTA Station to the Gwinnett Arena in Duluth proposed by Gwinnett County, the Gwinnett Village and Gwinnett Place CIDs, and the City of Norcross.

Duluth requests on the list include four-laning Buford Highway, currently two-lane, from Old Peachtree Road to Sugarloaf Parkway; six-laning Pleasant Hill Road, now four lanes, from Howell Ferry Road to the Chattahoochee River, a joint request with Gwinnett County; and improvements to Ga. Hwy. 120 from the proposed Hospital Connector to Hill Street.
