Panda-monium: Names of Atlanta Panda Cubs Are Revealed

In keeping with Chinese tradition, the giant panda cubs, born July 15, now have officially been named.

The names of the twin giant panda cubs born at Zoo Atlanta 100 days ago have been revealed.

In a special televised event on ABC today the names of the two male cubs was announced. Mei Lun and Mei Huan, pronounced May Loon and May Hwaan, are the names of the 100 day-old cubs.

In keeping with Chinese tradition, the male twins were named exactly 100 days after their birth. 

The twins, the first to survive in the United states, have up until now simply been known as "Cub A" and "Cub B" since their birth on July 15.

The two names were chosen come from an ancient Chinese term used to describe something indescribably beautiful and magnificent.
