• Metro Atlanta families 'trapped' in extended stay hotels, new study finds (fox5atlanta.com) — Families in and around Duluth are at the center of a new Georgia State University study on extended-stay hotel living, which highlights how many single parents feel trapped by high costs and poor credit. One mother who once lived in a Duluth-area motel now has stable housing, and nonprofit SPARC has opened a new Duluth community center to help more single-parent families break the cycle.
   

• Macy's to shutter Northlake Mall location (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Macy’s has already slated two Duluth locations for closure under its ongoing cost-cutting plan, and now the company will also shut its Northlake Mall store in Tucker sometime this year. The retailer says it’s focusing investment on its best-performing locations while winding down underperforming ones, which could further shift where Duluth shoppers go for department-store options.
