Retro Holiday Play Continues at New Dawn Theater

'Dad's Christmas Miracle' will take audiences back to their early Christmas holidays.

Into retro? Like heart-warming Christmas stories? Then you’ll enjoy “Dad’s Christmas Miracle,” which continues this weekend at New Dawn Theater in Duluth.

Grandpa Connor Murphy recalls the Christmas he wanted a go-cart more than anything and the excitement in the Murphy household as the holiday approaches. His teacher Miss McLaughlin messes things up by handing out report cards just before Christmas vacation. His dismal report card dashes his hopes of getting the go-cart. "This is a socks and underwear card if ever there was one," young Connor declares.

The scenes switch between the elder Connor telling his grandchildren about his childhood Christmas and vignettes of his memories acted out by his family when Connor was a boy. The set is filled with vintage furniture and holiday decorations that will take some in the audience back to their early Christmases.
