In a press conference at the Duluth Public Safety Center Wednesday (Dec. 14) afternoon, Capt. The Cobb County Police Department and SWAT Team assisted Duluth Police.
The MacMillans both have been charged with four counts of armed robbery, two counts of assault upon a police officer with a deadly weapon and one count of felony fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, Hunter said. Jonathan MacMillan also was charged with possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime against a person, he said.

There are four counts of armed robbery because there were four robbery victims in the massage parlor, Hunter said.
Jonathan MacMillan was being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center, Hunter said, and Jessica MacMillan was in custody at the Cobb County Jail Center.
In addition, the MacMillans face charges in Cobb County for possession of a hoax explosive device found during a search of their home, he said.
Duluth Police officers responded to an armed robbery in progress call at the massage parlor about 8:55 p.m. Nov. 22. As the suspect Hunter identified as Jonathan MacMillan was leaving the business, he opened fire with a handgun on the first police officer to arrive on the scene. A second police officer who arrived about the same time also was involved in the gunfire exchange. Jessica MacMillan was reportedly waiting in a getaway car in which the suspects escaped.
The Toyota Camry, which was registered to the MacMillans, was later abandoned in Holly Springs and found by a citizen who reported it to the Holly Springs Police Department, Hunter said. The front windows on the driver’s and passenger sides and the rear window had been shot out, and the car had 13 bullet holes, Hunter said.
The weapon used by Jonathan MacMillan was identified as a 9-mm handgun, according to Hunter. Fourteen shell casings belonging to the gun used by Jonathan MacMillan were found at the scene, Hunter said.
“It was incredibly fortunate that no one was hurt in the incident,” Hunter said. One of the Duluth officers, however, twisted a knee during the incident requiring surgery.
Both police cars were damaged in the gunfire exchange, but have since been repaired, Hunter said. Cash, two cell phones and a laptop taken in the massage parlor robbery have not been recovered, he said.
