“We worked with the design team to develop a plan that reflects the community’s desire for pedestrian improvements as expressed in the Dunwoody Village Master Plan,” said Dunwoody Public Works Director Michael Smith. “The design also includes accommodations for bicycles and minor improvements to address traffic backups at Mount Vernon Road.”

The Village Crossroads project covers Chamblee Dunwoody Road from Womack Road to Roberts Drive. The project includes the following:

  • Widening of sidewalk to eight feet from the current width of four to six feet
  • Decorative streetlights, benches and bus shelters
  • Dedicated paths for bicyclists, known as cycle tracks

Additional project enhancements include converting the center lane north of Mount Vernon Road into a landscaped median in areas where the turn lane is not needed. This would add greenery, calm traffic and create safer pedestrian crossings.
