Dunwoody UMC Assists Homeless Families
The church, part of the Family Promise initiative, opened its doors to four homeless families recently.

Dunwoody United Methodist Church recently opened its doors to four families in need.
11 Alive reports that with the help of more than 150 volunteers, the church -- involved in an initiative called Family Promise and one of 12 metro Atlanta host congregations -- had the homeless families live in the church from April 28 to May 5. They then moved on to another host congregation.

The families at Dunwoody UMC included seven children, one of whom attends Vanderlyn Elementary, the report states.
For a week, families get a place to sleep, eat, and more at the host locations.
