Public Info Open House on Mt. Vernon and Vermack Roads Set for June 17
The meeting is a chance for citizens to speak out on specific issues they face when using this intersection.
The City of Dunwoody is inviting citizens to provide input and feedback regarding future plans for the intersection of Mt. Vernon Road and Vermack Road/Manhasset Drive.
According to a release on the city's website, the city wants the feedback on the "project improvements which enhance the quality of life for everyone within our City."
The intersection is one of the busiest in the city, with Mt. Vernon Road serving as a main east-west artery in Dunwoody and Vermack Road as the only way to access Dunwoody High School and Vanderlyn Elementary School.

Because of its high traffic volume and its "current poor level of service," the intersection was deemed a "high priority project" in the city's Comprehensive Transportation Plan.
Even though the intersection has traffic signals, it lacks turning lanes, causing long wait times. Additionally, the intersection lacks proper accomodation for safe use by pedestrians and cyclists.

The city is just in the early planning stages of data collection, taking traffic counts and seeking as much public input as possible to identify specific improvements that need to be made and challenges that need to be resolved.
"Public input will assist the City in fine tuning potential approaches and solutions," according to the release on the city's website.
The meeting will be held at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 17 from 6-8 p.m.
