Study: Metro Atlanta Suburbs Lead Nation in Poverty

According to the report, 88 percent of suburban residents living below poverty lived in the suburbs in 2011.

According to the story, in 2011, 88 percent of Atlanta area residents living below poverty resided in suburbs.

The study covered data between 2000-2011. It showed that 178,000 people lived below poverty in Atlanta suburbs in 2011, which was a 159 increase from 2000. Meanwhile suburban population increased 26 percent compared to .2 percent for the City of Atlanta, the story said.
