Atlanta City Council Committee to Discuss MLK Drive Taxi Stand Revisions

Transportation Committee will discuss proposal by Kwanza Hall, District 2 councilman.

The Atlanta City Council's Transportation Committee is expected to take up a discussion of a proposal by District 2 Councilman Kwanza Hall that would revise the taxicab stopping and standing rules on the south side of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Peachtree and Broad streets.

The proposal follows a long row of complaints about loitering on that stretch and other quality of life concerns.

The legislation — Ordinance 12-0-1140 — would remove some of the taxistand spaces and convert them into metered parking.
