Coming Up: East Atlanta Strut, Candidate Forums

The 16th annual event caps off the week in East Atlanta.

What's going on this week? The East Atlanta Strut on Saturday culminates a week that also includes two forums for city candidates.

East Atlanta Strut. The 16th annual Strut will be Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with activities centered around Glenwood and Flat Shoals in East Atlanta Village. The Strut Parade will begin at 2 p.m. at the corner of Patterson and Glenwood avenues. The unofficial motto is, "No matter what, you've got to strut!," coined by the retirees at Branan Towers, who each year join the parade on foot or wheels. Organizers say the artists market has about 100 local artists with handmade goods, and there are aboutΒ 30 community booths thatΒ add to the festival atmosphere by bringing together local businesses and festival-goers through games and attractions. Of course there is plenty of live music on multiple stages, plus food and drink. Check out the website and come back to Patch later this week for more details.
