Lindsey McGovern, the current assistant principal at Shallowford Falls Elementary School, has been chosen to replace retiring principal Donna Long due to her extensive knowledge and experience with the school and community.   2. Connect the Comet is an organization advocating for a connection between the Silver Comet Trail and the Atlanta BeltLine. The group believes the connection between the Silver Comet Trail in Cobb County and the Atlanta BeltLine is crucial for the Chattahoochee RiverLands project, a planned 100-mile-long network of parks and trails. Although the extension has been delayed, Connect the Comet still hopes to connect the additional four miles of track for a more direct connection to the BeltLine. (Cobb Courier)
  3. Police in Cobb County began receiving calls around 11:15 p.m. Thursday night stating Lake Crossing Apartment homes were on fire. The cause of the fire is unknown and all 58 residents were accounted for with no serious injuries. As of Friday, the investigation into the cause of the fire remains open. (WSB TV)
