Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. Starting in June, the Vision To Learn on-site mobile clinics will revisit Cobb County public libraries to offer complimentary eye exams and glasses to children ages 5-18. With funding worth $264,000 from the Cobb Board of Commissioners, derived from the county's allocation of the American Rescue Plan Act, the program aims to surpass last year's record of nearly 400 exams and over 250 pairs of glasses distributed. The program is a part of the Cobb County Public Library's partnership with Learn4Life, which strives to enhance students' accomplishments in the community. (East Cobb News)
  2. A man was rescued by firefighters after falling approximately 20-30 feet into a tight space at a parking garage near Truist Park in Cobb County. The firefighters had to crawl through a narrow 2-foot opening to access the man, administer pain relief medication, and then create a rescue harness to bring him to safety. (Fox 5 Atlanta News)
  3. Cobb Police are assisting in the search for Deion Patterson, a man accused of shooting at least five people, one fatally, at a hospital in Midtown Atlanta. Reports suggest Patterson may have come to Cobb County, and officers have been assigned to the search in the Vinings, Cumberland, and Truist Park areas. (East Cobb News)
