Here are the top three stories in Gainesville today:
- Christopher Snow, 31, has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife, Casey Allen, at their Gainesville apartment. Allen, a mother of four, was found deceased from apparent stab wounds during a welfare check by police on Apr. 15. Snow, who was identified as the primary suspect, was later located in Gwinnett County after being involved in a serious vehicle crash on I-85. The victim's sister revealed that the couple had celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary just a day before the incident. (True Crime Daily)
- The City of Gainesville, in collaboration with the Gainesville Police Department and Safe Kids Northeast Georgia, will be holding a free car seat safety check event on Friday, Apr. 28. Residents can stop by the parking lot of the Gainesville Public Safety Complex, located at 701 Queen City Parkway, between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. that day. The drive-thru check, held during Georgia Cities Week, is aimed at ensuring the safety of children traveling in vehicles. (City of Gainesville, Georgia via Facebook)
- Gainesville resident Harry Gerald Rotter, III, was arrested and charged with DUI (less safe), serious injury by vehicle, speeding, and reckless driving in connection with a crash on Browns Bridge Road late Friday. According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Rotter attempted to overtake another car as it was slowing down to make a left turn onto Holland Drive, ultimately striking and injuring the driver, 51-year-old Lora Kimberly Haskins. As of Monday, Rotter remains in the Hall County Jail since he was booked on Saturday. (Yahoo News)
