- Paden Dunagan is currently seeking approval for a proposed wedding and agribusiness event venue on Tanners Mill Road. The event facility would include a barn that is currently being constructed as well as an area outside. Planning officials are currently recommending approval of the venue but are not denied Dunagan's request for outdoor amplification of music. Dunagan is planning to centralize the venue placement in order to buffer as much noise as possible but the response is still mixed among the planning officials. The proposal will be going to the Hall County Planning Commission this coming Monday and a formal recommendation will be set to go to the commission for a final decision at a public hearing on Jul. 13. - Earlier this week, the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville treated 27-year-old utility worker Marquell Manning had to receive emergency ankle surgery after being struck by a pickup truck in Raban County. Manning was working along GA 197 South at Shoreline Trail when he was struck by Matthew Wood, who allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel, causing his truck to veer off the road and hit Manning, a Windstream power unit, and a utility pole. Manning required surgery on his ankle, but expressed gratitude for his crew responding so quickly, as well as Wood - an EMT - for treating his injuries. The charges against Wood are currently pending, but it appears he will be charged for failure to maintain a lane. (Now Habersham)
- Tragedy hit Gainesville earlier this year when Christopher Snow killed his wife, Casey Lynn Mae Allen, and attempted to take his own the day after celebrating their wedding anniversary in downtown Gainesville. The couple celebrated their anniversary on Apr. 14 with a standup show downtown where allegedly some of the jokes made were at Snow's expense. The next day Snow confessed to family members to murdering Allen in their Spring Valley apartment. He then dropped off their baby at a relative's home, and wrecked his car in Gwinnett County after slitting his own throat in an alleged attempt to kill himself. After being rescued from his car accident Snow was charged with felony murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault. (Yahoo News)
