2 From Venezuela Arrested On Drug Charges In Gwinnett
Two Venezuelan nationals were accused of trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine in Gwinnett County.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Two Venezuelan nationals are facing drug charges after being accused of trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine in Gwinnett County, state authorities said Wednesday.
Moreno Luzardo, 35, and Gelis Escalona Martinez, 41, were arrested on July 2, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
Agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office received a tip regarding the sale of cocaine in March, authorities said.

During the probe, the GBI said agents searched Luzardo's Gwinnett County home and seized about 1 kilogram of methamphetamine, more than 1 half a kilogram of cocaine and cash of an unknown amount from the home.
Authorities identified Martinez as a participant in illegal drug sales and found Martinez inside the home at the time of the search, the GBI said.

Both Luzardo and Martinez were arrested on charges of trafficking in cocaine and trafficking in methamphetamine and were booked into the Gwinnett County Jail, the GBI said.
The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office is comprised of multiple law-enforcement agencies and covers 30 counties.
