"Construction has started," said Wertz. "We are moving ahead and hope to open in the fall, but we don't have a firm opening date at this time."

The new market will sell groceries and include a drive-thru pharmacy. The company expects to hire about 90 part-time and full-time employees said Wertz. Most of the staff will be full time he said.

"Generally we begin the hiring process about six months before the store opens," said Wertz. However, those interested in applying now may do so online at www.careers.walmart.com.

Walmart also plans to make improvements to the parking lot with a pedestrian walkway for easy access to the store.
