Gwinnett Bus Drivers Rally Behind a Fellow Driver Battling Cancer

Gwinnett County Public Schools bus drivers are asking the community to support their drive to help a fellow bus driver in her battle to beat cancer.

Archer Cluster bus driver Simone Mattis has been battling stomach cancer since Spring Break. Her fellow bus drivers have now partnered with Zaxby's and Bruster's Real Ice Cream in Grayson to help her in her battle.

From 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Zaxby's and from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 9, at Bruster's in Grayson, a percentage of all sales will go to Mattis and her family. Her fellow drivers, in what they're calling "The Mighty Simone Bus Drive" are asking the community to join them at Zaxby's and at Bruster's in support of Mattis.

According to a flyer, Mattis has had several surgeries in her battle with stomach cancer, but has now made it home and her recovery appears to be headed in the right direction.
