Every town has its traditions. Check out these fun facts about what makes Gwinnett so special.

Gwinnett County is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Gwinnett has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Gwinnett County is home to BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, a Hindu temple built in 2007. The temple boasts intricate architecture, stunning carvings and pristine gardens. Visitors can take a guided tour and learn about Hindu culture and tradition.
  • The city of Lawrenceville, located in Gwinnett County, is home to the historic Gwinnett Historic Courthouse, which was built in 1885. The courthouse now serves as a museum and cultural center, featuring exhibits on the history of Gwinnett County.
  • Gwinnett County is home to over 50 parks and recreational facilities, including the 700-acre Tribble Mill Park. Visitors can enjoy fishing, hiking, camping and even horseback riding in the park's scenic natural environment.
  • Gwinnett County is also home to the Gas South Arena (formerly known as the Infinite Energy Center). The arena hosts a wide range of events, including concerts, sports games and trade shows. It’s part of the Gas South District’s 118-acre campus, which also includes an theater, convention center and outdoor pavilion.
  • The city of Duluth in Gwinnett County is home to the Southeastern Railway Museum, which houses over 90 pieces of historic railway equipment and artifacts. Visitors can take a guided tour, ride historic trains and learn about the history of transportation in the Southeast.
  • Gwinnett County is home to the Aurora Theatre, a professional theatre company that puts on a wide range of productions, including plays, musicals and concerts. The theatre is located in downtown Lawrenceville and is a must-visit for any arts enthusiast.
  • The city of Suwanee, located in Gwinnett County, has been recognized as one of the best places to live in the United States. Visitors can explore the Suwanee Town Center, which features a variety of shops, restaurants and entertainment options, as well as a large park and amphitheater.
  • The Gwinnett Stripers, a minor league baseball team, play their home games at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. The team is an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and provides affordable family-friendly entertainment throughout the spring and summer.
  • The city of Snellville, located in Gwinnett County, is home to Briscoe Park. Visitors can enjoy a variety of amenities, including a swimming pool, tennis courts and indoor rental rooms.
  • The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center is a museum and educational center that focuses on environmental conservation and the history of the region. Just two minutes away from the center is Treetop Quest Gwinnett, allowing visitors to challenge themselves physically and mentally while exploring the natural beauty of the region.
  • In the city of Buford is the Mall of Georgia, one of the largest shopping centers in the southeastern United States. The Gwinnett County mall features over 200 stores, as well as a variety of dining and entertainment options.
  • Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners is an innovation center and testing facility for autonomous vehicle technology. Visitors can see the latest in transportation technology in action and learn about the future of mobility.
  • The city of Lilburn, located in Gwinnett County, hosts a variety of community events throughout the year. Annual favorites include the Lilburn Daze Arts and Crafts Festival and the Lilburn Farmers Market.
