Suwanee residents have long made it clear that a revamp in the Gateway business district is a high priority. And the changes may not be done.

Turns out a new eatery may be next on the list. A "Schlotzy's Deli coming soon" sign is draped near the top of the vacant Mrs. Winner's building on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

Schlotzy's corporate office in Texas has not confirmed any possible plans for Suwanee, although the company has other outlets in Gwinnett.

Still, it represents more potential positive development for the beleaguered area, which has been hit hard in recent years by business failures. The area extends roughly from I-85 along Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road to Satellite Boulevard, and was first developed when the interstate was extended to the area.
