• Gwinnett County family traumatized after swatting incident on Christmas Eve (41nbc.com) — A Gwinnett County family’s Christmas Eve turned terrifying when police in tactical gear surrounded their Sugar Mill Drive home near Duluth after a false 911 report of a woman held at gunpoint. Officers later determined no one matched the caller’s description and now believe it was a dangerous “swatting” hoax, with investigators still working to find who placed the bogus call.
   

• High fire danger issued as New Year's Eve celebrations are expected (accesswdun.com) — Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services is urging residents not to use personal fireworks this New Year’s Eve because of a high fire danger alert across several north Georgia counties. Extremely dry conditions mean even a small spark could quickly spread, though forecasters expect some relief with rain later this weekend. Officials advise using extreme caution with any outdoor burning.
   

• 2 men charged in connection to fire at Gwinnett County tire shop (wsbradio.com) — Gwinnett County fire officials say two men have been charged after a fire damaged a detached garage behind Mavis Tires & Brakes on Centerville Rosebud Road, briefly closing the roadway. Firefighters contained the blaze, and one person was treated and released for smoke inhalation as investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.
