Newby, who has visited all seven continents and explored 132 countries, called the simulator a dream fulfilled. “Traveling has always been a priority,” she said. “I’ve often wondered what it’s like in the cockpit. This opportunity answered my lifelong question: What are the pilots doing up there?”
Herman, a North Carolina native and resident of The Mansions at Gwinnett Park, said the experience brought him back to his childhood fascination with flight. “As a young boy, I would look up at hawks soaring in the Carolina sky and wonder how they did it,” he said. “Sitting in that simulator brought that wonder back. It’s a thrill and a privilege.”
