It was a quick rebound for Monterrey Mexican Restaurant in Suwanee. The eatery on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard received a "48/U" rating in a health inspection on November 29, 2012.

However, it received an "86/B" rating in a follow-up inspection seven days later, reports show.

The inspections were done by the Gwinnett/Newton/Rockdale health department.

In the November inspection, these were among the noted violations:

  • Person in Charge not preventing employees from using bare hands with ready-to-eat foods;
  • Person-in-charge unable to demonstrate knowledge of food-borne illness prevention;
  • Food handler handled ready-to-eat onions with his bare hands at the cookline;
  • Mold-like buildup in the ice machine and on the soda guns.
  • Wastewater backflowing from the dish sink floor drain onto the floor.
