Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:
- Thanks to a campaign started by the Johns Creek Historical Society, local residents are working to save a 69-foot-tall water oak tree that is located at the site of a planned Shake Shack by Publix on State Bridge Road. The tree is over 100 years old, and if site plans for the Shake Shack are approved, it would be removed. A final vote of approval for Shake Shack is scheduled for a later City Council meeting. - The Rogers Bridge pedestrian crossing over the Chattahoochee River is now officially open. The bridge provides a connection between the Chattahoochee River from Johns Creek’s new Cauley Creek Park — which will have its grand opening Jul. 18-22 — to Duluth and Gwinnett County. - Yesterday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney swore in two grand juries from the county. One of the grand juries will soon be hearing the case against former President Donald Trump and will decide whether he and several allies should be criminally charged for meddling in the 2020 election in Georgia.
