Atlanta Weather: Heavy Rain May Cause Flooding This Weekend

The National Weather Service is warning of flooding this weekend in Georgia after the wet week continues until next Wednesday.

GEORGIA — After weeks of hot, dry weather, Georgia will not see the sun for the next few days, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of north and central Georgia due to the soggy conditions.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue Thursday throughout the day. While heavy rain from showers and storms is the main threat, stronger storms will also be capable of gusty winds and lightning, the NWS said.

Then on Friday and into the weekend, the NWS said scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected Friday through next Wednesday with the greatest coverage Friday through Monday. Any thunderstorms will be capable of gusty winds, lightning and heavy rain.

Flooding could also be a growing concern as we approach the end of the week into weekend, the NWS said.
