Johns Creek Kid Wins National STEM Challenge

Seong-Hyun Ryoo recognized for his video game 'Rare Earth.'

A Johns Creek middle-schooler is one of 16 winners in the 2013 National STEM Video Game Challenge.

Seong-Hyun Ryoo won in the middle school Gamemaker category for his video game creation, "Rare Earth."

"The competition aims to motivate interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) among students in grades 5-12 by tapping into their enthusiasm for playing and making video games," said a press release from the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop and E-Line Media.

The Joan Ganz Cooney Center is a non-profit research and innovation lab that focuses on the challenges of educating children in a rapidly changing digital media landscape.
