Here are the top 3 stories today in Johns Creek:

  1. The “Giving the Gift of Life Act,” otherwise known as House Bill 275, has been signed into law by Gov. Brian Kemp after State Sen. John Albers donated his kidney to his son last summer. The bill was signed into law on May 2 with the mission of preventing life insurance companies from denying coverage to an individual donating all or part of their kidney, liver, pancreas, intestine, lung, or bone marrow. Additionally, it increases a tax credit ranging from $10,000 up to $25,000 in an attempt to cover a donor’s lost wages and other expenses. After donating to his son last year, John Albers hopes that this bill will help others who may be struggling with the same situation. (Appen Media)
  2. On Monday, the popular musician Young Thug was arrested in Atlanta after accusations from Fulton County's district attorney stated he was allegedly a founder and active leader of Young Slime Life, a violent street gang. Young Thug and another rapper, Gunna, have both been charged with gang-related crimes, along with 25 others who participated in violent gang activity, some of which include theft, murder, and possession of illegal drugs. Some song lyrics allude to this kind of activity, and the investigation is ongoing. (11 Alive)
