Here are the top three stories today in Johns Creek:

  1. A Johns Creek man fell victim to a gold trading scam, losing over $300,000, according to a report made on Jun. 13. The scam began with the victim being contacted and lured into a scheme involving buying, selling, and trading gold. A woman, whose identity remains unknown, provided the victim with a joint account on a website, where he deposited significant amounts of money. Eventually, the victim was asked to deposit more funds to lift a supposed account suspension, resulting in a total loss of $308,000. (Appen Media)
  2. In case you missed it: A $12,000 reward is being offered to find the culprit behind a fatal hit-and-run incident in Johns Creek. Richard Bartlett III, 23, was tragically struck while securing items to his car, resulting in his death. The suspect's car, believed to be a dark four-door sedan, possibly a BMW, fled the scene and is expected to have damage to the front right bumper, hood, and windshield.   3. In nearby Duluth, a couple returned from vacation on Jun. 18 to find their home on West Andechs Summit had been burglarized. The burglars took a safe from the master bedroom containing a revolver and $700, along with a jewelry box including $2,000 yellow gold stud diamond earrings. The incident is under investigation, but no video footage could be obtained as the cameras were not active. (Appen Media)
