Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:
- Johns Creek's new 203-acre Cauley Creek Park, located at 7255 Bell Road, offers ample recreational opportunities along the Chattahoochee River. With features such as a 5K trail, sports courts, playing fields, and a pedestrian bridge, the park is set to open next week, weather permitting. Families can look forward to the grand opening event on Jul. 22, featuring sports demonstrations, carnival rides, music, food trucks, and more. - In case you missed it: An investigation has been launched by Fulton County's Public Works Department after elevated levels of E. coli were found in the Chattahoochee River waters, resulting in closures along an 11-mile section of the river. The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Center has implemented closures and is working with the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper to monitor water quality. (CBS News)
- Joy Kubie, an 85-year-old residing in Johns Creek, has found solace and routine in the companionship of Dee Lauria, a certified nurse assistant from Right At Home. After Kubie's hospitalization due to a fall, she was matched with Lauria to receive assistance with her daily activities. Kubie, aware of her vulnerability to future accidents, appreciates Lauria's support, particularly during activities such as showering. With the help of agencies like Right At Home, older adults like Kubie can combat loneliness and isolation, which have been exacerbated during the pandemic, by forming meaningful connections with caregivers like Lauria.
