Snow In GA Thanksgiving Weekend Forecast, Thunderstorms Likely

The weather forecast for Thanksgiving in Georgia this year shows for strong storms, gusty wind, and potentially snow next week.

GEORGIA — The weather forecast for the next several days in Georgia bring the possibility of strong storms, wind gusts and even snow.

The National Weather Center issued a hazardous weather outlook on Wednesday for portions of north and central Georgia.

Showers and a few thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday night as a front approaches and pushes into the area. The primary threats with any storms will be locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

For Thanksgiving Day, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 2 p.m., then the forecast changes to partly sunny, with a high near 70 degrees.

Another storm system will affect the area late Saturday night and Sunday. At this time, heavy rainfall appears to be the greatest threat, according to the NWS.

"There is still some uncertainty in the storm’s overall strength, so please monitor for any changes to the forecast," the NWS said.

In addition, the coldest air mass of the season is slated to arrive in Monday and Tuesday with the potential for some light snow across the north Georgia mountains late Monday night into early Tuesday. There is also some uncertainty in that system, so monitor for any updates and changes.
