Volunteers Needed For Annual Homeless Count

The annual count documents the number of sheltered and unsheltered homeless people on one January day in Fulton County.

FULTON COUNTY, GA — Fulton County is seeking volunteers to help with the 2019 Homeless Point-In-Time Count. The count conducted by the county's Continuum of Care through the Department of Community Development will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24.

In the event of inclement weather, the count will be moved to Thursday, Jan. 31. The annual count makes note of sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals on a single night in January. The count, Fulton County said, is "one of the most important tools to understand the nature and condition of those who are chronically homeless and most vulnerable in our community."

The Point-In-Time Count is also used to track the success of efforts to end homelessness in Fulton County. It's also used to develop tools to end the social and economic challenges created by homelessness.
