Man Who Killed Ex-Girlfriend Released From GA Jail By Mistake
Authorities are searching for a man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend after he was mistakenly released from a metro Atlanta jail.
JONESBORO, GA — A man convicted of killing his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend was accidentally released this week from the Clayton County Jail, prompting a search for his whereabouts.
Clayton County District Attorney Tasha Mosley on Thursday said Kathan Guzman, who was convicted of murder in October 2024, was released Tuesday from jail.
Guzman's conviction was in connection with the death of Delia Grayson, prosecutors said.

She was found strangled to death in a bathtub at a Webb Road home, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
The Georgia Office of Victim Services discovered the mishap, unable to find Guzman in the state penal system, and alerted Mosley's Victim Assistance Unit, she said.

Prosecutors checked the county jail system, where they found Guzman had been released from custody six months after he was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole, Mosley said.
Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen and Delia Grayson's family were notified of the "erroneous" error, Mosley said.
Mom Christian Grayson told Fox 5 at least a week had passed before she learned of Guzman's release from jail.
"The DA promised me that he would never get out," she told the news outlet. "They looked me in my face, and they promised me that he would never get out. I had nothing to worry about. And he's out free."
She added Guzman is a trained mixed martial fighter, telling Fox 5, "No one is safe. The public is not safe."
Mosley said while her office is not responsible for managing and transporting inmates, she has been told that all available resources are being used to search for Guzman.
"It is my sincere hope that Guzman is quickly re-apprehended and serves every day of his life sentence," she said in a news release.
