New Horizons Symphonic Band Infuses Community With Inspiring Music

Music group with over 5,000 years of combined experience performs at schools, public events and other functions

Cobb New Horizons Symphonic Band, is an active ensemble comprised of musicians 50 years and over who provide music to the community tailored to a variety audiences. The band is masterfully conducted by Dr. Charles R. Jackson, Lecturer in Music Education (band) at Georgia State University and long-time public school band director in Cobb County Schools.

The ensemble rehearses at KSU and regularly performs on school campuses and other venues in North Georgia. Recently, Dowell Elementary hosted our retired musicians with selections that had K-5 students clapping, singing, and cheering to video game and Disney soundtracks among other tunes.

New Horizons performed for Cobb's District 12 Honor Band in 2022 with selections that left the county's top high school musicians inspired by the challenging literature and incredible sound produced by the band's life-long musicians.

New Horizons performs not only for schools and summer band camps across the region, but also for open-air music concert series and ceremonies. This past year, locations such as the Woodstock Amphitheater and Marietta Square (among others) hosted us for several of their special events. Cobb New Horizons has something for everyone, and with over 5,000 years of combined experience among the members, New Horizons is passionate about infusing the community with music that is sure to please!
