Southern Museum, Palmer Middle School Partner for Interactive Event
The event will include a scavenger hunt that incorporates curriculum areas such as math, science and language arts as well as a performance by Palmer Middle School chorus students.

Palmer Middle School and The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History are partnering to provide an interactive event for Palmer students and their families.
The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 19, challenges middle school students to look deeper at the museum’s exhibits and relate the information to skills they learned at school.
The museum’s education staff has been working with teachers on an interactive scavenger hunt that incorporates curriculum areas such as math, science and language arts, and they will be at the museum to assist families with this unique education experience.
At the conclusion of the event, Palmer chorus students will perform a selection of railroad songs they have been rehearsing since the beginning of the school year from the front steps of the museum.
“This will be a great opportunity to showcase student talent but also display how our museum exhibits can teach so much more than social studies and history,” said museum Director of Operations Dena Bush in a press release from the city of Kennesaw.
The community is invited to attend and participate.
