Woman Arrested in Kennesaw ATM Scam

Kennesaw police have arrested a Woodstock woman in connection with a growing ATM scam.

Golda Christina Dunn went to the Bank of America at 2781 North Cobb Pkwy. last Friday afternoon and allegedly placed old folded money into the ATM machines, according to an arrest warrant.

That caused $10,000 worth of damage to the machine, which was inoperable.

Kennesaw police said Dunn's alleged actions were part of a large ongoing scam in the area.

"The subject gives the ATM card and PIN number to a person and they attempt to make a deposit," according to the warrant. "During the deposit stage, an object is placed into the ATM making it jam and shut down. With the machine appearing to be malfunctioning, the person making the purported deposit will enter the bank to withdraw funds over the counter. Credit is typically given as the purported deposit is 'stuck' in the ATM and funds are given. However, no real deposit was actually made through the ATM."

In this case, Dunn was not given any money, according to the warrant.

She was arrested early Saturday morning on one count of criminal damage to property. She remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $5,000 bond.
