1 Dead, 1 Injured After Woman Loses Control On Curve

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A woman who lost control of her SUV Monday morning, died Monday evening, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Yovana Gonzalez, 23, of Lawrenceville, was driving a maroon 2014 GMC Sierra. Both Yovana and the passenger were transported to the local hospital. Late Monday, Yovana died as a result of her injuries. Notification was made to her next-of-kin.

The Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the traffic fatality that occurred at 3 a.m. on Oak Road near Hutchins Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Yovana was traveling southbound on Oak Road away from Hutchins Road. According to the preliminary police investigation, she lost control of her vehicle in a curve and left the roadway. Her vehicle traveled upon the shoulder, struck a roadway sign, and struck a large tree.
