Road Reopens After Gas Leak In Lawrenceville

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A gas leak has caused the closing of Collins Hill Road between Old Peachtree Road and Collins Glen Court in Lawrenceville. The hazmat team is currently on scene working to mitigate the incident.
Firefighters responded at 2:36 p.m. to a report of a gas leak at the 2700 block of Collins Hill Road NE in unincorporated Lawrenceville. The caller to 911 reported that there was a ruptured gas line.

Crews arrived to find approximately a 6 to 8-inch main that had been struck by a construction crew. The fire crew immediately requested assistance from the hazmat team as they began to shut down roadways in the area. Initially, Collins Hill Road was shut down between Old Peachtree Road and Collins Glen Court. A hot zone was established and the information was provided to the school bus dispatch. Currently, Collins View Court at Collins Hill Road has been blocked off. All other roadways in the area are open. No one has been evacuated. Residents have been allowed to shelter in place. This is an ongoing incident as Lawrenceville Gas Company works to resolve the issue. More information will be provided as soon as possible.
Equipment at the scene includes: 2-Engines, 1-Hazmat Unit, 1-Squad, and 1-Battalion Chief
