Paulding, Can You Help Find Thunder?

Residents of south Paulding County are being asked for help finding a lost pup. Thunder, or Thunderbolt, got away from his owners on a leash on April 18 in the Ridge Road area, specifically near Cochran Store Road. He's a 3-year-old male, collie breed, who's sweet, but shy, and might run if a stranger tries to approach him.

2 Injured When Plane Crashes In Bartow County Neighborhood

A small plane has crashed in a neighborhood in the western Bartow County town of Euharlee. Kathleen Bergen, communications manager with the Federal Aviation Administration, said a Cessna 172 aircraft with two people on board crashed into a subdivision in the town west of Cartersville around 1:50 p.m. on April 18. An air-life helicopter was dispatched for support.

Alpharetta, Milton Named Georgia's Best Suburbs To Live

The cities are among the 2017 Best Suburbs To Live In Georgia by Niche.com, an online ranking and review site. Alpharetta came in third while Milton clocked in at sixth place, respectively. Both cities were given overall ratings of A+, with top marks in categories such as public schools, outdoor activities, good for families and health and fitness.

The Cicadas Are About To Emerge

Cicadas, sometimes known as "17-year locusts," are expected to rampage through the region in massive numbers this year. The bugs, who can do serious damage in large numbers to young trees, shrubs and various crops, are always around. But huge broods of them occasionally hatch all at once, usually in 13-year and 17-year cycles. Expected in northwest Georgia, the insects could begin emerging any day now.

Rue21 To Close Cartersville Store

A clothing store catering to youngsters in malls and shopping centers across the Unites States has said it will close 400 of its stores to focus on its digital operations. The move means the Pennsylvania-based company will shutter more than half of its 700 stores around the country, including 10 locations in Georgia and metro Atlanta.
