Lawrenceville To Start $31M Arts Facility Expansion In Downtown

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Officials and project partners will mark the start of construction on an expanded Arts’ complex on Thursday, June 13 at 11 a.m. The groundbreaking will take place at 175 North Clayton Street, Lawrenceville.

Groundbreaking for the Lawrenceville Performing Arts Center and the expanded home of Gwinnett’s only professional theatre - Aurora Theatre. The expanded space will include a 56,000 square-foot facility complete with a 500-seat theatre, cabaret, indoor and outdoor civic space and rooms for educational programming.

The expanded facility will cover 56,000 sq. ft. and has been designed with significant community
input to support the growth of Gwinnett’s performing arts scene. Transforming the downtown,
the new Center looks to attract more than a 100,000 visitors, residents, artists and students
annually to the heart of Gwinnett County. The facility will be managed by the second largest
professional theatre company in Georgia, the Aurora Theatre, and furthers mayor and; council’s vision for a walkable, urban lifestyle in which art comes to life in a talent-rich, regional epicenter of community – the heart of Gwinnett.

Those who will attend include: Lawrenceville Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson, City Council members, County Commissioners, City Manager Chuck Warbington and Executives from Aurora Theatre as well as project partners - Croft & Associates, Stevens & Wilkinson and Carroll-Daniel Construction.
