Lawrenceville Teacher Caught Pushing Student To Ground: Deputies
Marquette Thin, 44, of Lawrenceville is accused of pushing a 14-year-old student to the ground in a classroom filled with students.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A high school teacher is facing charges following accusations he pushed a student to the ground Friday.
According to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, Marquette Thin, 44, of Lawrenceville was caught on video pushing a 14-year-old male student to the ground in a classroom filled with students during a verbal altercation.
Thinn, who was a teacher at Salem High School in Conyers, has been charged with simple battery.

Deputies said the student did suffer minor injuries. Following the incident, he complained of wrist pain.
"The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office takes any crime involving a student with the utmost priority to assure parents, staff and citizens of Rockdale County that our school system is a safe learning environment for their children," the sheriff's office said in a news release.

CBS 46 obtained cell phone video of the incident [WATCH VIDEO HERE]. In the clip, the student seemed upset and announced he's leaving class. That's when it appeared Thin tried to stop him.
A spokesperson for Rockdale County Public Schools told the Gwinnett Daily Post that Thinn was no longer employed with the school system as of Tuesday, Jan. 25. He'd worked at the school since 2020.
