Lawrenceville Teen Dies When Car Flips Over Into Creek: Police
An auto accident Sunday afternoon took the life of a Lawrenceville teen and injured three others, say Gwinnett police.

LAWRENCEVILE, GA — A teenager from Lawrenceville died Sunday afternoon when a car in which she was riding rolled down an embankment, flipped over and struck a tree, according to the Gwinnett County police. Asaviya Hazley, 17, was seated in the back seat of the gray Nissan Maxima and died as a result of her injuries, the police said.
The car's other three occupants were taken to a local hospital with various injuries. Two were 20 years old and the other was 15, the police said.
They added that it appeared that none of the car's occupants wore a seat belt.

The police responded at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday to the accident on Oakland Road near Herrington Road. Officers found the car "resting on its side down an embankment in a creek," a police report stated.
The police said they determined that the Nissan Maxima had been moving westbound on Oakland Road approaching Herrington Road when the driver lost control and drove off the right shoulder.

The driver "overcorrected, spun, and then left the roadway on the opposite side of the road,"the reported stated. The car then struck a tree in the creek.
The police closed down Oakland Road for several hours Sunday. The crash remains under investigation.
