• Gwinnett teen accused in Buford Highway chase was wanted for drive-by shooting (wsbtv.com) — Lawrenceville residents may recall a November drive-by shooting at a home off Club Drive; authorities now say the teen suspect in that case was arrested after a high-speed chase on Buford Highway. Deputies report speeds topping 120 mph and several crashed vehicles in Duluth and Norcross, but no one needed hospitalization. The teen now faces aggravated assault and additional fleeing charges.

• 3 Georgia Lottery players win $1 million to start the new year (wsbtv.com) — A Lawrenceville resident is starting 2026 $1 million richer after being randomly selected in the Georgia Lottery’s second-chance drawing, alongside winners in College Park and Grovetown. The winners were notified right at midnight on New Year’s, and state law allows big winners to remain anonymous. Lottery officials say proceeds continue to support HOPE scholarships and Pre-K programs.
