Ammonia Leak Triggers Shelter-In-Place Order In Douglas Co.

Residents were asked to remain clear of the area until further notice.​​

LITHIA SPRINGS, GA — An ammonia leak led to a shelter in place Tuesday in Lithia Springs, Douglas County officials said.

The shelter in place order was initiated for areas within a half-mile radius of Gordon Food Service Distribution Center, where the leak occurred at 1500 N. River Road, but has since been lifted, officials said around 4 p.m.

"Residents and businesses in the area are advised to close all doors and windows and turn off any outside ventilation," county officials said during the shelter in place.
