- Comedian Adam Sandler will bring his latest comedy tour to Gwinnett's Gas South Arena on Nov. 12. Tickets to see the famed standup comic and actor will go on sale to the general public this Friday, Sep. 16, at 10:00 a.m. They can be purchased online or by calling the venue directly at 770-626-2464. - The annual 4-H Farm Friends exhibit is set to return to the Gwinnett County Fair when it kicks off tomorrow, Sep. 15, in nearby Lawrenceville. The exhibit features hands-on fun for children of all ages that includes barnyard trivia and petting animals such as rabbits and goats. Group tours will also be available on weekdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. for the duration of the fair and can be scheduled by emailing Barbara.Larson@GwinnettCounty.com. (On Common Ground News)
- Tanto, a Gwinnett County police K-9 who has served the department for over five years, is set to retire permanently this month. Tanto first joined the department in 2017 but sustained injuries that led to the development of arthritis, prompting an examining veterinarian to recommend his retirement. During Tanto's time as a K-9, he made 35 patrol apprehensions, 40 narcotics apprehensions, and 60 evidence finds. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
- Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) has been named the most ethnically diverse Southern regional college for the ninth year in a row by U.S. News & World Report. The 2023 report, released Monday, used data reported by colleges from the fall 2021 semester to calculate overall rankings. GGC was also ranked twelfth in the Top Public Schools category among Southern regional colleges and first in Georgia among University System of Georgia-participating public schools. - The Gwinnett County Public Library and the Center for the Visually Impaired will cohost a virtual information session today at noon. The event will review resources available for individuals living with low vision, including strategies for reducing falls and continuing the things you love.
