Both BCES Archery Teams Qualify for Nationals

There were 15 national qualifying teams at the Georgia State National Archery in the Schools tournament in Perry on Wednesday. Two of those teams that qualified to go to the National Tournament in Louisville, Ky., in May were from Bay Creek Elementary School.

According to a press release from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the teams from BCES came in 2nd and 5th in their division, both teams with qualifying scores for the national tournament. The tournament will take place from May 10-11, at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. With more than 7,500 student archers from nearly 40 states, it is the largest archery competition in the world. 

Archery teams that competed in the Georgia-NASP state tournament this week had to win their division at one of six regional tournaments in January and February of this year or shoot a regional score high enough to be selected as a wildcard team. More than 1,100 student archers competed in the regional tournaments.

Georgia teams qualifying for nationals are: Woodlawn Elementary (3,225), Bay Creek Elementary (3,159), Lee County Elementary (3,012), Lake Park Elementary (2,992), Bay Creek Elementary JV (2,956), Liberty Elementary (2,950), Morgan County Middle (3,093), Bagley Middle (3,059), Bulloch Academy (3.045), Dodge County Middle (3,005), Wynnbrook Christian (2,985), North Murray High (3,202), Johnson County High (3,147), Lafayette Christian (3,128), Peach County High (3,126).
