Here are the top stories in Loganville-Grayson today:
- A Gwinnett County family is safe after one of their children alerted their parents to odd sounds coming from their garage. The family returned home from an evening out, parked in their garage, and put the kids to bed a couple of hours later. The child heard popping sounds and woke his parents. All five family members escaped before fire crews arrive, and no injuries were reported. Investigators reported that combustible materials parked near the car caused the vehicle to catch on fire which spread to the home. The fire was ruled an accident. It is not clear if the family was displaced from the home. (WSB Atlanta)
- A lawsuit has been filed in Loganville against McDonald's USA, LLC and a Delaware foreign corporation, stating that the local McDonald's employed a registered sex offender, as a manager trainer and supervisor. In his supervisory role, he interacted with underage women, and is now accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl and getting her pregnant. A representative from McDonald's corporate and the owner of the Loganville McDonald's responded with their concerns and confirmed that the employee no longer works there. The accused has denied the accusations against him, and Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry has confirmed that they have an open investigation matching the details stated in the lawsuit. (WGAU)
- Loganville Police are asking for the public to be on the lookout for Jamya Chanell Jackson. She is 5-feet, 1-inch tall with brown hair and brown eyes, and she was last seen wearing a black shirt, pants, and shoes with a gray shawl and pink glasses. She has five piercings in each ear. Jamya has been diagnosed with several medical conditions which may make it difficult for her to communicate with the public. Please contact Det. Raines at 770-466-8087 or after hours at 770-464-0310.
