Deputies Find Animals Living in Unsanitary Conditions in Grayson Home

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office issued 16 citations of animal neglect to a Grayson woman after they found numerous animals living in unsanitary conditions at her and her husband's home.  

Deputies from the Civil Unit of the sheriff's office were at the home on the 1700 block of Bennett Road on Monday (Oct. 7) to execute the eviction of Linda and Barry Coker, according to a news release from spokesperson Deputy S. Volkodav. 

When the deputies arrived, they found several animals inside the home, which was filthy with urine and feces.  

More animals were discovered outside the residence, some roaming freely through an open door to the home and others were located in cages which were overgrown with weeds and foliage in the backyard.

A total of 15 dogs, one cat, one rabbit and a squirrel were living in unsanitary conditions without clean food and water. 

Animal Control officers were summoned to the scene and issued Linda Coker with the animal neglect citations citations. She was not taken into custody, according to Volkodav.

"The eviction process was slightly delayed so that she could have the opportunity to make responsible arrangements for the numerous animals," the deputy told Patch.
